USB GUI (Vertex software)
The USB GUI is the free Windows program for the Vertex: settings, EDID, scaling, HDR, CEC and signal info on one screen.
The USB GUI is a program for a Windows computer that lets you change all Vertex settings with a mouse.
It is like the settings screen of a phone, but for the Vertex. You connect the Vertex to the computer with a USB cable.
Is there a PC program to control the HDfury Vertex?
YESYes. The USB GUI runs on Windows (XP to 10 in the manual; HDfury lists a Windows 11 driver). There is no Mac version: on Mac or Linux use RS232, or the Android/iOS app with GoBlue.
How to use it with the Vertex:
- Install the Silabs driver: 4.0.0 for Windows 10, 3.9.2 for XP (p.20).
- Connect USB and open the GUI from the folder that matches your driver (p.20).
- Check FW and GUI versions top right (p.27); latest is FW 1.38.1.45 with GUI 1.34.
- Put the EDID, HDCP and SCALE slide switches in the middle so GUI settings apply (p.8, p.11, p.12).
- Save your settings with CONFIG → EXPORT (p.43).
What it is
GUI stands for graphical user interface: a screen with buttons, tabs and lists instead of typed commands. The Vertex GUI is a Windows program that talks to the Vertex over its USB port. It shows what signal comes in and goes out, and it gives access to many settings that the buttons and slide switches on the box do not have.
A USB driver is needed on the PC so Windows can talk to the Vertex. The Vertex uses a Silicon Labs (Silabs) USB driver.
On the Vertex
The GUI runs on Windows XP to Windows 10 (p.25). Install the Silabs driver first: 4.0.0 is required on Windows 10, 3.9.2 on Windows XP (p.20). HDfury's product page also lists the 4.0.0 driver for Windows 11. The latest package is FW 1.38.1.45 with GUI 1.34; always use matching FW and GUI versions (p.25). The top-right corner shows the FW and GUI versions (p.27).
The tabs are: Top section, EDID Manager, Scaler, HDR InfoFrame, AVI/VSI IF, DV/IF, OSD, CEC Commander, RS232, Macros and Config (p.27-43). Config also lets you export and import your settings as a file (p.43). Settings only take effect when the slide switches on the Vertex are in the middle position (p.8, p.11, p.12).
There is no Mac version. On Mac or Linux you can control the Vertex with RS232 commands (p.48), or use the Android/iOS app with the GoBlue Bluetooth dongle (p.54). If the GUI looks wrong on a high-resolution screen, the manual gives a fix: Compatibility → 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' → 'System - Enhanced' (p.113). Close the GUI before a firmware update.
Common questions
Is there a Vertex GUI for Mac?
No. The GUI is for Windows. On Mac or Linux use RS232 commands, or the Android/iOS app with GoBlue (p.48, p.54).
The GUI does not find my Vertex. What should I check?
Install the correct Silabs driver (4.0.0 for Windows 10, 3.9.2 for XP) and use the GUI folder that matches that driver (p.20).
I change settings in the GUI but nothing happens.
Put the EDID, HDCP and SCALE slide switches in the middle position; only then are GUI settings applied (p.8, p.11, p.12).
The GUI window looks too small or blurry.
Right-click the GUI file, open Compatibility, tick 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' and choose 'System - Enhanced' (p.113).
