EDID is a "what I can do" list that a screen gives to a source.

The Vertex can choose which list the source gets: a ready-made one, your own, a copy of your TV's list, or a mix of two devices.

How does the HDfury Vertex manage EDID?

YESYes. The Vertex can give the source one of 100 preloaded EDID tables, your own uploaded EDID, a copy of a TV's EDID or an Automix EDID built from both outputs. Each input can have its own EDID (p.8, p.15, p.29).

How to use it with the Vertex:

Put the EDID slide switch in the middle (Custom Use / BT) so the GUI, IR, RS232 and app can control it (p.8).
In the GUI EDID MANAGER tab choose Automix, Custom, Copy TOP Sink, Copy BOT Sink or Fixed (p.28–29).
In Custom, pick a table for PORT 0 and PORT 1; the Vertex loads it and sends a hotplug by itself (p.29).
To use your own EDID: Read TV [TOP]/[BOT] EDID or Load from File, then Upload EDID (p.29).
Over RS232: #set edidmode automix/custom/fixed/copytop/copybot and #set edidtable 1–100 (p.49).

What is it?

How Vertex tells a source what the system supports.

EDID is the capability list a source reads before choosing its output format. Vertex can use stored, custom, sniffed or mixed EDIDs.

02 / REAL-WORLD USE

Why would you use it?

Useful when a source chooses the wrong resolution, audio format or HDR capability.

In a Vertex system, this works together with the source, the connected sink(s), EDID/HDCP behaviour and the selected routing or processing configuration.

Common questions

Can a different EDID make my TV support something new?

No. An EDID only changes what the source is told; the display cannot do more than it can.

Which EDID mode should a beginner use?

Start with the default custom table, 4K60 4:4:4 BT2020 HDR 600MHz with full audio (p.8, p.28). If there is no picture, try the Fixed EDID (p.8).
