SIGNAL INSPECTION

MAKE HDMI VISIBLE.

HDMI normally hides a large amount of technical information from the user. Vertex exposes signal information through its integrated display and on-screen information tools so the HDMI chain can be inspected rather than guessed at.

SIMPLY PUT

Signal inspection means looking at what is really inside the HDMI signal instead of guessing.

The Vertex shows what comes in and what goes out, on its OLED and on your screen.

It works like a window on a pipe, so you can see what flows through.

Can the HDfury Vertex show what goes in and out of my HDMI chain?

YESYes. The Info page shows the input and each output (TX0, TX1) separately, the HDR pages show the HDR data, and the GUI can read the EDID your source sees. So you can tell if a problem starts at the source, EDID or display.

How to use it with the Vertex:

  1. Compare the INP line with the TX0 and TX1 lines on the OLED Info page (p.19).
  2. Check the HDR 1 and HDR 2 pages: no HDR data on the input means the source or EDID is the cause (p.19, p.42).
  3. In the GUI EDID MANAGER, use Read RX EDID to see the EDID the source reads (p.29).
  4. RS232 #get status tx0sink / tx1sink shows what the connected displays report (p.48).

What does this mean in a real AV system?

When a system has no picture, incorrect HDR behaviour or an unexpected format, visible signal information helps establish what the source is actually sending and what is happening along the path.

Common questions

How does inspection help when HDR does not switch on?

Check the HDR pages: if the incoming signal already has no HDR metadata, the problem is the source or its EDID, not the display (p.19, p.42).

Can I see what EDID my source reads?

Yes, EDID MANAGER > Read RX EDID shows the EDID the Vertex presents on its input (p.29).

Is the information from the input or the output?

Both. The Info page has a line for the input (INP) and separate lines for each output, TX0 and TX1 (p.19).
