HDMI DOCTOR
HDMI Doctor is the practical troubleshooting side of Vertex: tools for investigating EDID, HDMI/HDCP handshakes and difficult compatibility issues across an HDMI chain.
HDMI Doctor is HDfury's name for the Vertex tools that help you fix HDMI problems.
Many HDMI problems happen because devices do not agree on what they can do or on copy protection.
The Vertex shows you what each device is doing, so you can find the weak link instead of guessing, a bit like a doctor checking one symptom at a time.
Can the HDfury Vertex fix HDMI problems like a black screen?
YESOften, yes. HDfury says the Vertex solves most HDMI integration issues such as HDCP, EDID, HPD and audio breakout. It cannot make a device show more than it supports (p.111).
How to use it with the Vertex:
- Check the OLED and green side logo: logo on means a signal is received and decoded (p.6).
- Read the OLED Info page for the input and each output, including HDCP (p.19).
- Short-press RST to send a hotplug (p.7).
- Still no picture: EDID slide to 'Fixed EDID with L/R Audio' (p.8).
- Rule out conversion with SCALE on No Scaling/Passthru and HDCP on Auto (p.11, p.12).
What does this mean in a real AV system?
Instead of swapping components at random, use the available signal information and management tools to narrow down whether the problem starts with source output, capability negotiation, protection handshake or the receiving device.

What problems does HDMI Doctor solve?
HDfury lists HDCP, EDID, HPD and audio breakout issues (p.111). In practice that means black screens, wrong formats, missing HDR or missing surround sound.
What should I try first when there is no picture?
Short-press RESET to send a hot plug event (p.7). If that does not help, the EDID slide position 'Fixed EDID with L/R Audio' gives a basic 4K60 4:2:0 8-bit 300 MHz EDID that most displays accept, but not FHD-only or 4K30-max displays (p.8, p.29).
How do I see where the problem starts?
Look at the OLED Info page or the OSD: it shows the incoming signal and what goes out on each output, including HDCP version (p.19). The green side logo means the Vertex receives and decodes an HDMI signal (p.6).
