COMPLETE
HDMI CHAINS.
These are starting workflows, not calibration presets. First prove HDR10, then introduce LLDV, and always verify the actual signal at Vertex.
APPLE TV 4K → VERTEX → EPSON TW9400 / 5050UB
Streaming + LLDV projector workflow
- Set Epson EDID to Expanded and prove normal 4K HDR10.
- Load/select the intended LLDV-capable EDID on Vertex and re-handshake.
- On Apple TV: Settings → Video and Audio. Select the Dolby Vision format exposed by the chain.
- Decide whether Match Dynamic Range is ON (native-range switching) or OFF (keep chosen output format) according to the intended workflow.
- On the Epson, set Signal → Dynamic Range → Dynamic Range = HDR10 by hand (LLDV carries no HDR10 flag, so Auto can stay in SDR) or use Vertex Enable Custom HDR; then tune Signal → Dynamic Range → HDR10 Setting (1–16). EDID: Signal → Advanced → EDID → Expanded.
NVIDIA SHIELD PRO → VERTEX → HDR PROJECTOR
Shield LLDV starting chain
- Prove 4K HDR10 first.
- Apply LLDV-capable Vertex EDID.
- Shield: Settings → Device Preferences → Display & Sound → Dolby Vision.
- If 60 Hz DV is unavailable, inspect Advanced display settings → Custom display mode and choose a Dolby Vision Ready mode within the chain's bandwidth.
- Set projector HDR presentation and verify resolution/DV/color at Vertex.
OPPO UDP-203/205 → VERTEX → PROJECTOR
Disc player / player-led Dolby Vision
- Use OPPO firmware that includes Player-led Dolby Vision Processing.
- Setup → Video Output Setup → HDR Setting → Dolby Vision Processing → Player-led (needs firmware UDP20X-60-0625 or later). Optional: HDR Setting = Dolby Vision also sends HDR10 discs as LLDV.
- Vertex presents the LLDV-capable EDID.
- Projector is in HDR mode: forced by hand (JVC custom gamma, or a projector that can be forced into HDR) or by Vertex Enable Custom HDR.
- Compare the same disc against the normal HDR10 output.
APPLE TV 4K → VERTEX → JVC N/NX/NZ
LLDV versus JVC native dynamic HDR
- First establish JVC Frame Adapt HDR as the reference HDR10 configuration.
- For NZ/NP models: Content Type Auto/HDR10, Picture Mode Frame Adapt HDR 1–3, Theater Optimizer as appropriate.
- Then enable the Vertex LLDV EDID and Apple TV DV output.
- Use a separate suitable JVC HDR/user workflow for the LLDV signal where required.
- A/B compare; newer JVC internal dynamic tone mapping may already be excellent.
SONY X700/X800M2 → VERTEX → HDR PROJECTOR
Sony UHD player workflow
- Player: Home → Screen Settings → Dolby Vision Output → ON.
- Note that Sony documents no Auto setting on the X700 workflow: ON/OFF is deliberate.
- Vertex must advertise the intended DV/LLDV capability.
- Verify actual output at Vertex and then configure projector HDR mode.
- For non-DV discs, be aware that Sony documents different output behaviour depending on the Dolby Vision Output switch; verify rather than assume.
