Splitter vs Matrix Mode (Thru / Swap)
Splitter sends one input to both outputs; Matrix sends each input to its own output, straight or crossed.
In splitter mode, one input goes to both outputs, like one TV channel on two screens.
In matrix mode, each input goes to its own output, so two sources can play on two screens at once.
The INP button on the Vertex switches between them.
Does the HDfury Vertex have splitter and matrix modes?
YESYes. In Splitter mode one input goes to both outputs; in Matrix mode each input can go to its own output. A long press (over 2 s) on the INP button switches between the two modes.
How to use it with the Vertex:
- Long-press INP (over 2 s) to enter or leave Matrix mode (p.10).
- Short press on INP: in Splitter mode it changes input, in Matrix mode it swaps the routing (p.10).
- The OLED/OSD shows both active inputs in Matrix mode, only one in Splitter mode (p.10).
- Remote: RS232 #set input top/bot/thru/swap (p.48) or IR vertex_inputsel1 to vertex_inputsel4 (p.78).
What it is
A splitter takes one source and sends it to several displays at the same time. A matrix takes several sources and sends each one to a different output.
With two inputs and two outputs, a matrix has two useful routings: straight through, or crossed over.
On the Vertex
The INPUT (INP) button does both jobs. In Splitter mode a short press switches the active input; in Matrix mode it swaps/crosses the signals. A long press (over 2 seconds) enters or exits Matrix mode (p.10).
In Matrix mode the OLED/OSD shows both active inputs; in Splitter mode it shows only the current active input (p.10).
Over RS232 the command is #set input x, where x can be top, bot, thru or swap (p.48). The IR list has vertex_inputsel3 (matrix thru) and vertex_inputsel4 (matrix swap) (p.78). The FAQ has a picture of the options per mode (p.103).
