4K + 1080p?
DO IT IN THIS ORDER.

1 · Test display A alone

Source → Vertex → primary display. Prove SDR and HDR10. Note what Vertex RX/TX shows.

2 · Test display B alone

Connect the second sink by itself. Establish the maximum stable resolution/HDR/audio capability.

3 · Connect both

Only now use both outputs. Automix can help construct a capability set suitable for the connected sinks.

4 · If one sink is only 1080p

Connect the 1080p / HDCP 1.x device to the TOP output (TX1, the downscale port) and use Auto Scaling so the legacy path can receive 1080p while the compatible path remains 4K where the chosen routing/scaling mode permits it.

5 · Watch EDID and audio

The source only sends formats it believes the chain accepts. Mixed displays can therefore affect advertised video and audio capability.

6 · Verify TX, not just RX

RX tells you what entered Vertex. The output/TX information tells you what is being sent toward each downstream path.

Do not start with both displays, an AVR, custom EDID and LLDV at once. If it fails, you will not know which stage caused it.
