Disable HDR (JVC PJ mode)
Strip all incoming HDR metadata, so a projector can use its own gamma curve for HDR content.
Disable HDR removes the small HDR note that tells a screen "this is HDR, switch to HDR mode".
The picture itself stays the same. Without the note, the screen does not switch by itself, so you can use your own picture settings.
It was made for JVC projector owners who want to use their own HDR picture curve.
Can the HDfury Vertex remove HDR metadata (Disable HDR)?
YESYes. Disable HDR cancels all incoming HDR metadata, so the display does not switch to HDR mode by itself. The video itself stays HDR. It was made for JVC projector owners who use their own gamma curve.
How to use it with the Vertex:
- USB GUI > HDR INFOFRAME: tick Disable HDR (p.32).
- RS232: #set hdrdisable on/off (p.51); IR: vertex_hdrdisableon / vertex_hdrdisableoff (p.78).
- Select the HDR picture mode or custom gamma on the projector yourself (p.32).

What it is
Without HDR metadata, a display does not switch into its HDR mode automatically. Some projector owners prefer that, so they can apply their own tone-mapping or gamma curve instead.
On the Vertex
Disable HDR cancels all incoming HDR metadata (p.26). The manual says it was introduced so JVC projector owners can apply their own gamma curves for HDR content and let the projector's DI work when content is HDR (p.32).
RS232: #set hdrdisable on/off; when enabled, all HDR info to the sink is disabled (p.51). IR: vertex_hdrdisableon and vertex_hdrdisableoff (p.78). In an exported config file the setting is HdrDisable (p.45).
The MACROS page has special automatic and custom macros for JVC projectors (p.40). RS232 #set jvcmacromode selects 0 Automatic, 1 Ignore Metadata, 2 Semi-Automatic or 3 Custom (p.52).
Common questions
Why is my projector not switching to HDR anymore?
Disable HDR may still be on. It stays active until you switch it off (p.32, p.51).
Does Disable HDR turn HDR into SDR?
No. The video stays HDR; only the metadata is removed. The projector needs a custom gamma or HDR picture mode to show it correctly (p.32).
