There are several ways to change settings on the Vertex.

You can press the buttons on the front, use an infrared remote, a Windows PC over USB, a serial RS232 cable, or a phone app with the optional GoBlue Bluetooth add-on.

They all change the same settings; you just pick the way that suits your room.

WITH THE HDFURY VERTEX

Can I control the HDfury Vertex without a Windows PC?

YESYes. Use the push buttons and slide switches, an IR remote, RS232 from Mac, Windows or Linux, or the Android/iOS app with the optional GoBlue. Only the USB GUI needs Windows. Remote changes need the slide switches in the middle.

How to use it with the Vertex:

Set the EDID, HDCP and SCALE slide switches to the middle position (p.8, p.11, p.12).
Buttons: INP switches inputs (hold 2 s for Matrix), INFO cycles OLED pages, RST short = hotplug, over 10 s = factory reset (p.7, p.9, p.10).
IR: codes in the IR code list (p.56-102); RS232: 19200 baud, commands start with # (p.48).
App: 4K Vertex Total Control for Android/iOS, with GoBlue (p.55).

Common questions

Why does nothing happen when I change a setting in the GUI or with IR?

The slide switch for that function must be in the middle position; otherwise the switch overrides the remote setting (p.8, p.11, p.12).

Do I need a Windows PC?

Not for daily use. The USB GUI is Windows-only, but RS232 works from Mac, Linux or Windows, and the app runs on Android and iOS with GoBlue (p.108, p.110).
