HDMI WORDS MEAN?
The small capability list a display sends back through HDMI: resolutions, HDR/Dolby Vision capability, audio formats and more. Vertex can read, combine or replace this information.
A native Dolby Vision display receives the Dolby Vision signal and participates in the Dolby Vision display processing.
The compatible player performs the Dolby Vision processing before sending the signal. Vertex can advertise the required capability through EDID. This does not turn a projector into a native Dolby Vision display.
Copy protection used over HDMI. If source and display/AVR do not agree on HDCP, you can get a black screen even when resolution settings look correct.
Different ways of carrying color detail. Higher chroma can require more bandwidth. During troubleshooting, a lower-bandwidth supported format can help prove the HDMI path.
The signal class of original Vertex. It is not 600 Hz and it is not a 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 device: 4K120 works only as 4:2:0 8-bit.
The HDMI devices re-negotiate capabilities, HDCP and signal format. After an EDID or DV change, reconnecting/restarting the source may be needed to force a fresh handshake.
