HDMI Compatibility – HDfury Vertex glossary
Compatible with HDMI versions 1.0 and upward, subject to the Vertex 600 MHz / 18 Gbps bandwidth limit.
The Vertex works together with old and new HDMI equipment.
Anything from HDMI 1.0 onward can be connected, and DVI devices too with the right adapter.
It is like an older car still fitting on a new road: it drives fine, but it cannot use lanes it was never built for.
Does the HDfury Vertex work with older and newer HDMI devices?
YESYes. It works with any HDMI version from 1.0 up, and is also listed as DVI 1.0 compatible, as long as the signal stays within 18 Gbps / 600 MHz. Connecting HDMI 2.1 gear does not add HDMI 2.1 features (p.104, p.110).
How to use it with the Vertex:
- Connect HDMI/HDCP 1.x devices to the TOP output (p.5).
- Set the SCALE slide switch to Auto Scaling so the outputs convert to what each sink supports (p.12, p.14).
- For a DVI display or monitor that dislikes AVI InfoFrames, try Disable AVI in the AVI/VSI IF tab (p.34).
What is it?
Which HDMI generations can be connected.
Why would you use it?
Useful when a modern source must coexist with older AV equipment.
Inside the HDMI chain

Do not confuse this with…
Compatibility does not mean every possible later-HDMI feature is supported.
Common questions
Which HDMI version do my devices need to work with the Vertex?
It does not matter: the Vertex works with any HDMI version from 1.0 up (p.104). The manual also lists it as HDMI 2.0b / HDMI 1.4 / DVI 1.0 compatible (p.110).
Does connecting an HDMI 2.1 TV give me HDMI 2.1 features?
No. The whole chain is limited to what the Vertex supports: 18 Gbps / 600 MHz, without FRL, VRR, ALLM or eARC.
My old HDCP 1.x receiver or TV shows no picture. Where should it go?
The manual says HDMI/HDCP 1.x devices must be connected to the TOP (downscale) output (p.5).
