Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo + Vertex
This guide gives the exact Dune menu for Dolby Vision on the Pro Vision 4K Solo: TV-led Dolby Vision for a DV TV and LLDV for an HDR10 projector behind the original Vertex.
Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo (Realtek), firmware 210214_0331_r17 up to 240619_0210_r22. Other Realtek 'Vision' players (Pro Vision 4K, Max Vision 4K, Real Vision 4K) have their own firmware pages; check that your model's notes list the same menu. Not covered: Dune Media Center app devices (Premier 4K Pro, Homatics; see the Dune HD guide) and the 8K models.
DOLBY VISION WITH THIS SETUP
The Pro Vision 4K Solo has an explicit Dolby Vision output mode (Auto / LLDV / STD DV), so it can feed both a Dolby Vision TV and an HDR10 projector through the Vertex.
- Native Dolby Vision
- YESDolby Vision output mode = Auto or STD DV. Dune: STD DV means 'processing is led by the TV'.
- LLDV via the Vertex
- YESDolby Vision output mode = LLDV. Dune: 'Dolby Vision processing is led by the player'. Since firmware 210227_1631_r17, Dolby Vision can be forced even when the player thinks the display has no Dolby Vision.
- HDR10
- YESHDR processing mode = Auto outputs HDR10 for HDR10 content.
Before you start
- Update the firmware. The HDR and Dolby Vision settings menu needs 210214_0331_r17 or later; forcing Dolby Vision needs 210227_1631_r17 or later.
- All settings below are under Setup / Video / HDR and Dolby Vision settings.
- LLDV = player-led Dolby Vision output. VS10 = Dolby's conversion engine in HDR processing mode. They are not the same thing.
1. Basic picture settings
- HDR processingSetup / Video / HDR and Dolby Vision settings / HDR processing modeAutoDune: chooses the output format automatically based on the content you play.
- Dolby Vision at 50/60HzSetup / Video / HDR and Dolby Vision settings / Dolby Vision 4Kp50/60Leave enabledDune: set 'Disabled' only if your equipment supports Dolby Vision only up to 4Kp30. The original Vertex carries 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision.
2. Dolby Vision on a Dolby Vision TV
- Dolby Vision output modeSetup / Video / HDR and Dolby Vision settings / Dolby Vision output modeAuto (or STD DV to always use TV-led)Dune: Auto picks LLDV or STD DV based on the TV's capabilities and preferences.
3. Dolby Vision (LLDV) on an HDR10 projector or TV
- Optional: convert SDR/HDR10 to Dolby VisionSetup / Video / HDR and Dolby Vision settings / HDR processing modeA 'Dolby VS10 engine …' option (e.g. 'Dolby VS10 engine for SDR, HDR video') — only if you want non-Dolby Vision films convertedOptions per Dune: always / for video / for HDR video / for DV video / for SDR, HDR video / for SDR, DV video / for HDR, DV video / for SDR, HDR, DV video.
Vertex settings for this setup
- Dolby Vision TV: connect the TV to the Vertex BOTTOM output and follow part A — EDID "COPY BOT SINK" (or Automix with "DV Force Metadata"), No Scaling, InfoFrame tools off.
- HDR10 projector or TV (LLDV): follow part B — upload an LLDV EDID into a free custom slot (CUSTOM 4–10) and select it for the Vertex input this player is connected to. Then make the display switch to HDR (part B2).
- The Dune connects to a Vertex input; a Dolby Vision TV goes on the Vertex BOTTOM output, an HDR10 projector gets the LLDV EDID route.
- Dune is not on HDfury's LLDV source list, but Dune documents LLDV output itself.
- With LLDV forced on the Dune (firmware 210227_1631_r17+), the player sends LLDV even if the EDID does not report Dolby Vision.
Switch these off
- VS10 options in HDR processing mode while you testThey convert other formats to Dolby Vision, which hides whether real Dolby Vision is working.
- Dolby Vision 4Kp50/60 = DisabledOnly needed for equipment limited to 4Kp30 Dolby Vision; the original Vertex is not.
How you know it works
- Vertex OLED Info page, line INP: shows the incoming format; TV-led Dolby Vision arrives as RGB 8-bit (Vertex manual p.113).
Problems and fixes
The projector gets no Dolby Vision.
Set Dolby Vision output mode = LLDV (it can be forced from firmware 210227_1631_r17).
No Dolby Vision at 50/60Hz.
Check that Dolby Vision 4Kp50/60 is not set to Disabled.
Everything plays as Dolby Vision.
HDR processing mode is on a VS10 option. Set it back to Auto.
NOT CONFIRMED BY THE MANUFACTURER
- The exact auto framerate menu on Vision players. Dune's notes only mention an extended auto framerate setting with a new option 'prefer double framerate' (firmware 220630_0727_r20). The DUNE app path 'Setup / Video / Auto framerate' is for Media Center app devices, not this player.
- Whether the Pro Vision 4K (non-Solo), Max Vision 4K and Real Vision 4K have exactly the same menu wording.
