Dune HD Media Center devices + Vertex
This guide covers the Android devices that run the Dune HD Media Center app. It gives Dune's documented settings for frame rate, HDR and Dolby Vision through the original Vertex.
Dune HD Media Center app devices: Dune HD Premier 4K Pro, Homatics Box R 4K Plus and BOXY. Not covered here: the Realtek 'Vision' players such as the Pro Vision 4K Solo (see the Dune Pro Vision guide; they have a separate Auto / LLDV / STD DV menu) and the Dune HD 8K models (Pro One 8K Plus, Pro 8K Plus).
DOLBY VISION WITH THIS SETUP
Premier 4K Pro and Homatics Box R 4K Plus output Dolby Vision and HDR when the content has it; Dune does not document whether this is TV-led or player-led (LLDV) Dolby Vision.
- Native Dolby Vision
- PARTLYWith HDR Auto on, Dune says the device outputs Dolby Vision/HDR only when playing such content. Whether a Dolby Vision TV gets TV-led Dolby Vision is not documented.
- LLDV via the Vertex
- NOT CONFIRMEDDune lists a 'Dolby vision source-led' switch (default ON) but does not explain it. These devices are not on HDfury's LLDV source list.
- HDR10
- YESHDR Auto = ON outputs HDR only when the content is HDR.
Before you start
- Check which Dune you have. These settings are for Media Center app devices only; Vision players and 8K models use different menus.
- Some settings are in the DUNE app, others in the Android System Settings.
- Keep the output at 4K 60Hz or lower for the original Vertex.

Vertex settings for this setup
- Dolby Vision TV: connect the TV to the Vertex BOTTOM output and follow part A — EDID "COPY BOT SINK" (or Automix with "DV Force Metadata"), No Scaling, InfoFrame tools off.
- LLDV: LLDV output from this device is not confirmed, so the LLDV route (part B) may not work. Test it before you rely on it.
- The Dune device connects to a Vertex input; a Dolby Vision TV goes on the Vertex BOTTOM output.
- These devices are not on HDfury's LLDV source list and Dune does not document LLDV for them. If you need LLDV for a projector, the Dune Vision players document an LLDV output mode.
- Check the Vertex OLED Info page (line INP) to see what the device actually sends.
Switch these off
How you know it works
- Vertex OLED Info page, line INP: shows the incoming format; TV-led Dolby Vision arrives as RGB 8-bit (Vertex manual p.113).
Problems and fixes
Everything is sent as HDR, also SDR programmes.
Set Android System Settings / Device Preferences / Display and Sound / HDR / HDR Auto to ON (BOXY: HDR Policy = Adaptive HDR).
Playback takes long to start or stop.
Dune: set Auto framerate and Auto resolution to OFF for faster start and stop (you then lose frame-rate switching).
NOT CONFIRMED BY THE MANUFACTURER
- What 'Dolby vision source-led' does exactly, and whether it means player-led (LLDV) output. Dune does not explain it.
- Whether these devices send LLDV when the Vertex presents an LLDV EDID.
- Dolby Vision support on BOXY.
